Sandap is to be found where electronic, pop and alternative music meet. Sandap is a young artist from Cambodia who has spent much of his life in France ; strongly influenced by his culture – his native country is widely represented in the music videos that came alongside his releases – Sandap tells both his story and his vision of the world in his songs, and it is the latter that is told in his latest single. Released today on streaming platforms, “When I See Us” is a more contemplative single than his previous ones, and it proclaims the desire for a better world for the generations of tomorrow.

“We’re gonna run to the light
Cause we have this one last chance to change
To change”

Introduced by atmospheric notes and an androgynous voice, the scene is set from the very beginning of the track. Filled with hope, Sandap’s voice alternates between a high voice and a raspy voice ; a daring mix that could easily make you think that two different people are singing the song. Lyrics-wise, the track is an ode to the future and to change ; Sandap is an optimist who believes in a better future for tomorrow’s generations.

When it comes to the melody, there are various inspirations that can be heard in the track. You can hear the futuristic experiments of Emmit Fenn and the alternative scapes of the duo Aquilo, making the track as refreshing as it is grandiose.

And if you wanted to listen to more of Sandap, we suggest you listen to his single “KHENG” whose music video was shot in Cambodia ; a video that makes us want to travel and discover the world !
