We’re starting off this advent calendar with an artist and an EP that we both totally fell in love with : we are talking about the French artist Scarlett and her latest EP called “Signs”, which was released on November 26th. Scarlett is used to the queer and Parisian music scenes, and she speaks loudly and proudly about being a trans woman ; she tells in music that the (and her) body can be the messenger of a political statement.

In order to get her message across, she works with another artist called VoxAxoV, which is none other than Charlotte Cegerra, member of the Dark Jazz Kilimanjaro Ensemble ; the queer artist lends their voice to Scarlett who, due to a specific surgery she has had done to her vocal chords, is unable to sing. We strongly recommend you to listen to “Waiting For”, the track which follows the ethereal, positive and optimistic introduction that is “Hope”, for a total immersion in her artistic universe : led by an androgynous voice – not to say an agender voice – “Waiting For” is an electric ballad bordering on glam-rock music, and that bears strong message. Almost all of the aspects of her musical signature is to be found in this track !

The EP was released on November 26th on the Swiss label Creaked Records.

Scarlett is to be found on all streaming platforms. You can also follow her on Instagram !
