Pop music : an ever evolving artistic movement. If it sometimes is mainstream and accessible, many other times artists have had fun twisting it, changing it, improving it or even revolutionizing it ; among those who are experimenting, today we are honoring a small selection of women who are working their hardest to give it a new twist.

Among this list that is very (very) far from being exhaustive, you will find some famous faces such as the excellent Tirzah whose pop flirts with rock music, the Nordic duo Smerz who merges experimental electronic music with down-to-earth pop-infused lyrics, or even Cosha, who was known a few years ago as Bonzai, for whom the music can no longer be qualified with names of music genres since she fuses them together so often – and it’s refreshing.

On the other hand, among the new artists who have recently made their way in the great workshop that is experimental pop, we showcase the sweet Malou Madi, the intriguing Sister Teeth, the Georgian phenomenon Creams as well as the Franco-Senegalese Seleminga.

Tracklist :

  1. i am there and never gone – Swerfey
  2. Decomplicated – Malou Madi
  3. See – midori jaeger
  4. Tighter – Cosha feat. Coby Sey
  5. Send Me – Tirzah
  6. Bound – GracieSouz
  7. daylight – Sister Teeth
  8. First – Cosette
  9. Remember – Smerz
  10. RUN – Creams

And as we can’t just make a 12 tracks playlist to showcase all the female producers we like & support, we have inaugurated a brand new playlist, entitled “Women Of Experimental Pop” * on our Spotify account, including among others artists like SOPHIE, Charli XCX, Austra, Arca, Oklou, Perera Elsewhere and more, and we will update it regularly. Go give it a listen !
