We all once had this feeling that we were not good enough to do what we want to do in life. This feeling, generally characterized by a lack of self-confidence for some people or by the infamous impostor syndrome for others, is often felt by a lot of artists as well ; Daniel Netz, a young artist based in Tel Aviv, Israel, fights this very feeling on her latest track entitled “The Queen Is Naked”. Written as a reminder not to beat yourself up, launched as a way to ring the alarm in her listeners’ heads, the multidisciplinary artist fights in this track for the importance of communication, of connection with others, but also for the need to fight to do what we want to do in life, all told on a half-electronic, half-organic alternative pop production. Her tracks is here to calm us down the way a breath of fresh air would. Listen to it below !

“Oh I need a voice, to answer my, echo in silence
Waving my gun, I’m on my knees
Can you see me ?”
– Daniel Netz – The Queen Is Naked

The lyrics are crystal clear, the track itself sounds catchy ; even though Daniel Netz speaks in her second-ever track of a feeling that weighs a lot of people down, she fights it with all her soul & energy by being strong, and by defying the voices echoing in her head with loud, clear, meaningful sentences. The track starts with muffled voices that you can barely decipher ; the voices are quickly stopped in their tracks as the bass & percussions hit in order to support the hypnotic voice of Daniel Netz.

Similar to Daniel Netz : Ophelia’s Eden portrays emerging feelings for a loved one on “Honeymoon”, her second single.

Then, the track keeps growing stronger ; it amplifies as she affirms the mantras she repeats. If the track itself turns out to be a hymn to self-confidence, its music video conveys a second message through the minimalist images that showcase the artist, alone, in the middle of a room. Indeed, by being simple and effective, it shows that in addition to taking control over the dark thoughts that prevent her from moving forward, she takes control over her femininity and her person. A strong track that shows the world her very ambitious side !

“The Queen Is Naked” is a follow-up track to a first single called “To The Valley Below”, released earlier this year. Whether or not it sounds close to the very beginnings of Lana Del Rey before she became the indie pop icon she is today, Daniel Netz showcases on acoustic guitar and bass tunes her ability to captivate her listeners. To be listened to below.
