Yes, we are once again featuring a release from piano and coffee records – but we cannot deny that Casual Melancholia’s latest EP will surprise, like it surprised us, all ambient lovers in more than one way.

While ambient music is generally written with synthesizers and a few piano chords, the music of French composer Casual Melancholia differs in (almost) every way. Its many tracks have all been written with instruments that we generally would associate with sacred music, such as the organ, and yet, all the tracks still bear the soothing properties of the non-religious music that is ambient music. All in all, “Daylight” brings freshness to ambient music by giving it both a modern and traditional twist. We will add that the EP is the artist’s first attempt to write sacred music !

Of course, we recommend you  to listen to the entire EP, but if you’re in a rush, “Dawn” and “Dusk” will help you relax and unwind. Listen to “Daylight” below !

Similar to Casual Melancholia : We have talked with Simeon Walker to celebrate the release of “Bewild”, an intimate and emotional ballad taken from his upcoming EP “Imprints”

Casual Melancholia is to be found on all streaming platforms. You can also follow him on Instagram !
